Guidelines

Child development experts recommend limiting children's screen time because communicating with and engaging with children makes them more likely to become better human beings, learn and flourish.

Here are the latest guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics (APP):

Children under 18 months should be kept away from the screen.

Children under 18 months and two-and-a-half years may be screened a few times so that children learn new things.

Children 2 to 5 years should not see the screen for more than an hour. Elders should take care of them during this period.

Children over the age of 6 should spend a limited amount of time in front of the screen, depending on the nature of their use.

Limited screen time
